Terms of use for ShiftCheck
Last updated: 4 October 2026
1. Provider and scope
These terms of use govern the use of the Android app ShiftCheck (listed on Google Play as "SHneo ShiftCheck"). The provider of the app is SHneoDesigns, owner Steven Detlef Hahn, Clara-Zetkin-Str. 19, 04610 Meuselwitz, Germany, e-mail: support@shneo.app.
ShiftCheck is distributed through Google Play. The Google Play Terms of Service also apply to downloading the app and to buying the permanent unlock. Under those terms, the purchase contract is concluded with Google; according to Google, for users in the European Economic Area this is Google Commerce Limited, Dublin, Ireland.
2. Description of the service
ShiftCheck helps you plan and document your shifts for your own use: with shift types, rotations and a manual plan, planned and actual working times with breaks, absences (vacation, sick, other), manually marked holidays, notes, premium rules you define yourself (for example night, Sunday, holiday, overtime or custom rules), an optional hourly wage, a monthly evaluation and a payroll check against values from your own payslip. Local reminders, backups and a CSV export of a month complement the app. Your entries are stored locally on your device. No account or registration with SHneoDesigns is required.
3. Calculations, payroll check and no advice
ShiftCheck calculates working times, premiums and monthly evaluations solely on the basis of your own entries and the rules you define yourself. The results are estimates. ShiftCheck does not know your employment contract or collective agreement or the rules that apply to you, and takes them into account only as far as you enter them yourself as a rule. The app does not calculate net pay, taxes or social security contributions.
For the payroll check, you type in values from your own payslip, and ShiftCheck shows you differences to your own records ("Check deviation"). A deviation shown is only a hint to check the information concerned. It is not a statement that your employer made a mistake; it can also result, for example, from an incomplete or incorrect entry, a different rule or rounding.
ShiftCheck does not provide, and does not replace, legal, tax or employment law advice. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your entries and rules. If you have questions about your pay or your entitlements, please contact your employer or a qualified adviser. Liability under section 12 remains unaffected.
4. Free download and trial
Downloading ShiftCheck is free. From the first start, you can use ShiftCheck free of charge with all features for 14 days. The trial ends automatically; no payment obligation arises afterwards and no paid subscription begins.
When the trial has ended, use of the app is locked until you unlock ShiftCheck with the one-time purchase of "ShiftCheck Pro" or restore an earlier purchase. All your entries are kept and are not deleted. The purchase, restoring a purchase, the privacy policy, the legal notice and these terms of use remain available while the app is locked.
5. One-time purchase and payment
The purchase of "ShiftCheck Pro" unlocks ShiftCheck permanently. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it does not renew automatically. The price is shown to you in the Google Play purchase dialog before you buy. Google handles the payment; SHneoDesigns does not receive any payment details.
You can restore a purchase with "Restore purchase", for example after reinstalling the app or on another device, if the same Google account you bought with is used there and Google Play allows it.
6. Right of withdrawal and refunds
As a consumer, you generally have a statutory right of withdrawal when you make a purchase. As the purchase is concluded through Google Play, Google informs you about your right of withdrawal during the purchase and handles a withdrawal. Whether and when the right of withdrawal for digital content expires early is determined by the statutory requirements; ShiftCheck itself does not ask you for any declarations for this.
Independently of this, you can request a refund from Google under the Google Play refund policies. Your statutory rights remain unaffected in every case.
7. Licence
SHneoDesigns grants you the simple, non-transferable right to use ShiftCheck for your own purposes on your devices, within the scope of the Google Play terms. You may not circumvent the unlock or other technical protection measures or redistribute the app. Further rights granted by law, for example under §§ 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act (UrhG), remain unaffected.
8. Your data and backups
ShiftCheck stores your entries locally on your device. SHneoDesigns has no access to this data, has no server copy of it and cannot restore it. If the device is lost, defective or reset, if the app data is cleared or if the app is uninstalled, your entries can be lost; they can then only be restored from a backup. Please create backups regularly and keep them safe, ideally somewhere other than the device, because backups stored on the device are lost as well if it is lost, defective or reset. Backups and CSV exports are not encrypted and can contain sensitive information such as working times, pay and sick days; you are responsible for storing and protecting them.
You can restore a backup in ShiftCheck after reinstalling or on another Android device if it is undamaged and its data format is supported by the installed version of ShiftCheck. A backup does not contain a purchase: you restore your data from a backup, and the permanent unlock with "Restore purchase" (section 5). Restoring does not extend the trial and does not start it again.
Because your data is stored only locally, data loss cannot be ruled out completely despite the backup function. Your statutory rights under sections 11 and 12 remain unaffected.
Details on the processing of personal data are given in the ShiftCheck privacy policy.
9. Technical requirements and availability
ShiftCheck requires an Android device with Android 7.0 or later and Google Play. An internet connection is required for purchasing and restoring a purchase. Otherwise, the features of the app work locally on the device. Google is responsible for the availability of Google Play.
10. Updates
SHneoDesigns provides the updates, including security updates, that are required by law to keep ShiftCheck in conformity with the contract, for the period you can expect under the statutory provisions. Updates are provided through Google Play; you decide whether and when to install them. If you do not install a required update within a reasonable time although you were informed about it and its consequences, you are not entitled, under the statutory provisions, to remedies for a defect resulting solely from this. Changes to the app beyond maintaining conformity are only made within the limits permitted by law.
11. Rights in case of defects
The statutory rights in case of defects apply, for digital products in particular §§ 327 et seq. of the German Civil Code (BGB) or the corresponding provisions of the law applicable to you. They are directed against your respective contractual partner. If you have problems with the app, you can contact support@shneo.app at any time.
12. Liability
SHneoDesigns is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, within the scope of a guarantee given, and in all other cases of mandatory statutory liability.
In the case of slight negligence, SHneoDesigns is only liable for the breach of an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper use of the app possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely (essential contractual obligation), limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical when the contract was concluded. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded.
These rules also apply to the personal liability of vicarious agents. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
13. End of use
You can stop using ShiftCheck at any time by uninstalling it. Android then deletes your local data unless you have created a backup. A purchase remains recorded with Google Play.
14. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer whose habitual residence is in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of that country. Statutory places of jurisdiction, in particular for consumers, remain unaffected.
15. Changes to these terms
SHneoDesigns may adapt these terms of use for future versions of the app, for example for new features or changes in the law. The current version is available in the app. Rights already acquired, in particular the permanent unlock, are not restricted by this.
